- 1). Use an electric rotating sander on concrete. Begin with a coarse, 100-grit sanding disk. Sand the entire concrete surface evenly, pausing to replace the current disk as it wears out.
- 2). Switch to a 300-grit sanding disk. Sand the concrete as you did before, replacing the disk when necessary. If possible, sand the concrete in straight lines that do not overlap.
- 3). Continue sanding the concrete using a succession of disks. Use 400-grit and 500-grit for a slightly textured finish or up to 800-grit, 900-grit or 1,000-grit for a smooth, polished finish. Wipe the surface of the concrete with a rag or a tack cloth to remove the dust and debris.
