How to Make Mounds & Almond Joy Costumes
- 1). Buy a Mounds or Almond Joy bar to use as a reference while you make the costumes. Plus, you can have a snack when you're done creating your costume.
- 2). Purchase fabric for the costume. Buy pale blue fabric for the Almond Joy and red for the Mounds. Both costumes need white and black fabric, as well. For the best-looking costume, select fabric that is not transparent.
- 3). Drape a piece of the colored cloth from your shoulders to see how long you will need to make the costume. Mark where the cloth reaches your knees. Cut the fabric. This piece of fabric will be the back of your Mounds or Almond Joy costume.
- 4). Cut a strip of white fabric that is about 9 to 12 inches wide and is as long as the larger colored cloth. Cut two strips of the colored cloth that are equal in width to one another and as long as the other pieces of cloth. Trim the width of these pieces so that when combined with the white strip, the width of the three pieces is equal to the larger piece for the back of the costume. Sew the three pieces together.
- 5). Sew the back and front portions together. Leave room, about 10 to 12 inches, at the top center of the costume for your neck and head, but sew to the rest of the top edge. On the sides of the costume, leave holes of about 10 inches for your arms. Sew the rest of the side, down to the bottom. Leave the bottom of the costume open for your legs.
- 6). Add writing to the front of the costume. Use large black iron-on letters or write the Mounds or Almond Joy labels with black fabric paint or fabric markers. If you opt to write the letters yourself, it may be helpful to use a stencil or print off large letters from a computer to trace to ensure their appearance is uniform and neat.
- 7). Hop into some plain clothes. A black T-shirt and black leggings, plain "onesie" pajamas or a white sweatsuit are good to wear under the costume.
- 8). Pull on the Mounds or Almond Joy costume.
