Getting Rid of Acne Tips
- Basis Sensitive Skin Bar
Most cleansers sold to treat acne are much too harsh for the skin. Ingredients in acne cleansers can be irritating, overly drying and inflammatory. Instead of using a cleanser for acne treatment, use a cleanser formulated for sensitive skin types, such as Basis Cleansing bar for Sensitive Skin (see Resources). Be careful not to rub or scrub the skin. The cleansing portion of skincare should be as gentle as possible. Simply lather the skin and rinse well with clean water. - 2.5 percent Benzoyl Peroxide Concentration
Most people that use benzoyl peroxide use a strength that is way to strong for their skin. Benzoyl peroxide can be bought in concentrations of 2.5 percent, 5 percent and 10 percent. It is best to use a 2.5 percent concentration, which will clear the skin when used in larger quantities. Squirt about a quarter-sized amount into your hand, and gently massage it on the face. Make sure that you do not rub the skin; just glide the hands across the skin gently until the benzoyl peroxide cream is absorbed into the skin. - Oil of Olay Oil-Free Lotion for Senstive Skin
Moisturizing the face after using benzoyl peroxide is perhaps the best way to ensure successfully clearing the skin without giving up. Benzoyl peroxide creams can give people side effects when used alone, such as irritation, redness and peeling. This can be remedied when an oil-free moisturizer is used after the benzoyl peroxide cream is applied. Find a lotion that is non-comedogenic, meaning that it does not clog the pores. Oil of Olay Oil-Free Lotion for Sensitive Skin will moisture the skin well without causing new break-outs.
