A photovoltaic system uses sunlight to produce electricity. This system produces reliable and clean energy without consuming harmful fossil fuels, and is used in numerous industrial and commercial applications. A 24-volt photovoltaic system is made up of 24 volt solar panels, which are capable of generating upwards of 150 watts of electricity. It is most popularly used in medium- to large-scale applications where larger voltage is required. These systems are used in remote power applications, log cabins, grid-connected office and residential buildings.

    Enhanced Reliability

    • A 24-volt photovoltaic system is a reliable source of energy in the harshest of conditions. It provides a constant source of energy and prevents costly power failures in situations and events where the continuous functioning of operations is critical. Large-scale utilities have installed wide PV arrays as a backup system of power or to provide customers with solar power.

    Greater Efficiency

    • A 24-volt solar system is capable of delivering more power than a 12-volt system by using less wire. According to "Design and Build A Sustainable, Energy Efficient House," a 24-volt system utilizes approximately 1/4 of the wire that is used by a 12-volt system to generate the same amount of electricity.

    Improved Durability

    • A 24-volt photovoltaic system is durable and designed to last for years without much degradation.

    Low Maintenance Costs

    • A 24-volt photovoltaic system requires occasional maintenance and periodic inspection. That cuts down the cost of transporting personnel and materials to remove areas for service work or system maintenance. This is a distinct advantage over conventional fuel-based systems that require regular maintenance for proper operation.

    Zero Fuel Costs

    • Since no fuel is required in the generation of electricity from a 24-volt photovoltaic system, there are no associated fuel costs. The system eliminates the need to transport, store and purchase fuel.

    Zero Pollution

    • Conventional sources of fuel are associated with numerous problems--such as depletion of natural resources, destruction of natural habitat, water pollution, smog, acid rain and global warming. Photovoltaic systems do not cause these risks and generate no pollution.

    Safety

    • A 24-volt photovoltaic system is safe since it does not require the use of dangerous combustible fuels. It is carefully designed, and its proper installation practically eliminates all risk. Most 24-volt solar panels are shock-resistant, and are not affected by weather, moisture or corrosion.

    Energy Independence

    • Photovoltaic systems are stand-alone and allow users to be energy independent from fuel-based utility systems.
