Air Travel Restrictions in the U.S.
- The number one objects that you cannot bring during your flights in the U.S. are sharp or pointed objects. This can be very dangerous especially when you are thousands of feet from the ground. If you need to bring any sort of sharp things, make sure that you include them in your checked baggage. Carefully and smartly wrap them to avoid any possible injury to the handlers and examiners. According to TSA (U.S. Transportation Security Administration), box cutters, ice picks, knives (with the exception of plastic ones), razor blades (disposable razors are admitted), meat cleavers, axes, sabers, metal scissors with sharp tips, and swords are not permitted on your carry-on bag but can be packed in your checked baggage.
- Under the strict rules of TSA, athletic tools such as baseball bats, bows, arrows, cricket bats, dumb bells, hand weights, golf clubs, hockey sticks, lacrosse sticks, pool cues, ski poles, and spear guns cannot be in your in-flight bag as these things are frustratingly long or big, giving other passengers more difficulty in the already confined space of an airplane. If you need to carry these things, make sure that you include them in your checked baggage. These objects can also be used as weapons that is why airport authorities do not allow them in flight.
- You are not allowed to bring guns or any sort of ammunition during your flight. For all those people who have small firearms, make sure that they are securely packed in wooden or metal boxes. Air guns are allowed in your checked baggage as long as the compressed air cylinders are not attached. All firearms have to be unloaded and carefully checked by airport securities. There are fees and limitations to bringing these kinds of objects so make sure you read the policies first. Flares, gun lighters, pellet guns, fake guns, and pistols need to be in your checked baggage. Explosive materials such as dynamite, fireworks, and grenades are strictly prohibited in both checked and carry-on luggage.
- According to FAA, aerosol, chlorine, gasoline, lighter fluid, gas torches, turpentine, paint thinner, liquid bleach, batteries, spray paint, and tear gas are strictly not allowed. These are hazardous materials that can put any flights at risk. Common lighters are not prohibited as long as you only bring one in your carry-on bag.
