    Pet Odors Inside Your Home

    • Everyone knows that dogs have a propensity to reek upon getting wet. This smell can permeate through the house and transfer to anything they sit or lie upon. It's an easily avoided problem by simply drying off your dogs coat well after being out in the rain or after a bath. Keep designated towels handy for just such occasions.

For odors on fabrics it's as easy as adding a cup of vinegar to the rinse cycle of the washing machine. Not only will the vinegar eliminate the odors, it softens fabrics as well. For carpet and upholstery that can't be thrown into the washing machine, consider baking soda. Sprinkle baking soda on the affected area and keep your pets off of it for two to three hours before vacuuming it up. Baking powder absorbs odors. It helps to absorb as much of the smell as possible before using a carpet refresher.

    Odors From Pet Accidents

    • Vinegar works wonders on pet accidents. Clean up as much of the mess as possible with a cloths or towels and clean the area with vinegar. It helps to prevent a stain and freshens the area as well. Be sure to never use ammonia with cats around. It smells too much like cat urine and may entice the kitty to return to the same spot for a repeat performance.

You can sprinkle baking soda on the area after the vinegar has dried to help eliminate any lingering smells. Just be careful that the vinegar is dried up before adding the baking soda. The two have a caustic reaction to each other which will create a lot of bubbles as they neutralize each other, rendering both of them useless.
