Game Requirements for Call of Duty World at War

    • "Call of Duty: World at War" comes from the "Call of Duty" franchise. Much like its predecessors, this is a first person shooter game that takes place in World War II. The game is known to be the first in the "Call of Duty" series to employ a four-player co-op campaign mode, as well as a zombie survival mode. In order to play this game, however, a few system requirements have to be met for it to run on your computer.

    Operating System

    • An operating system is an interface program that communicates between your computer's hardware to the user. There are three major operating systems: Apple, Linux, and Windows. Currently "Call of Duty: World at War" is compatible with Windows operating systems only. You can opt to run it under Windows XP or Windows Vista, as both will run this game.

    Processor

    • You need at least an AMD Athalon 64 3200+ or an Intel Pentium 4 with 3.0GHz. Processors essentially tell the computer what to do, which system tasks needs priority, when to do what function, and so on. Higher processing power will equate to better game performance at greater qualities, but as long as you meet the minimum processor requirements the game should handle normally.

    Memory

    • "Call of Duty: World at War" requires at least 512MB of RAM under Windows XP or 1GB if you are running under Vista. A system's memory, also known as RAM (short for Random Access Memory.) A computer's memory functions to store computer data to be accessed quickly by programs. In this case, while playing "Call of Duty: World at War" you will be using large portions of your RAM to sustain its performance. Higher memory capacity means for greater game performance.

    Video Card

    • This game requires you have at least an nVidia GeForce 6600GT or ATI Radeon 1600XT which supports the Shader Model 3.0 program. Video cards are, essentially, computer hardware that creates the images from programs and various other system processes onto your screen. Games like "Call of Duty: World at War" use video cards to render high-end graphics, environments, and scenes. These are considered to be the low end market of video cards with today's standards, but stronger types will result in higher, more fluid gaming graphics.
