Our Travels Through the Amalfi Coast
Travelling to different places is my passion! The only thing that keeps me smiling is having my passport ready and case packed.
We were looking for a holiday that provides amazing scenery, welcoming locals, excellent cuisine and historic sites.
A big task some may say, but then I found Italy's Amalfi Coast.
Just a short flight away from Manchester and with our car hire collected we were ready to uncover this wonderful region's delights.
We collected our vehicle from Naples Airport, with the journey taking around 1 hour 20 minutes with a car hire into Sorrento which is a great pick for those who prefer a lively atmosphere.
This cosmopolitan resort overlooks the lovely Bay of Naples and has great restaurants and bars to choose from.
You can also catch a ferry here to Capri and visit the famous Blue Grotto, a mysterious sea cave.
For something a little different visit the town of Furore.
Situated along the slopes of Monti Lattari takes it name from the "sound of the raging sea pounding against the valley below".
The picturesque fjord is surrounded by the wild beauty of the Crevano cliffs where a cluster of old fisherman's colourful houses cling to the cliff side.
Amalfi Town, the gem of the Amalfi Coast, is a large popular resort that has retained its history and values.
The town has a 9th Century Cathedral which is one of the main attractions along with the Cloister of Paradise.
Enjoy a cool drink in the towns centre where you can sit outside one of the many cafes and simply watch the world go by.
You will find the locals very friendly in Amalfi.
Positano is a great spot to indulge in a little romance and luxury! Built into the cliffs this lovely town started as a fishing village and in the 1950's became a popular choice for writers and artists.
Now picked as a fashionable resort here you can treat yourself at upmarket Italian boutiques.
Amalfi Coast has a little bit of everything to satisfy any holiday taste.
The coastal road along the region is famous for its sharp bends and amazing scenery, perfect for our soft top car, it felt as if we had just jumped straight into a James Bond movie set! This is definitely a place we will visit again!
