How to Paint Summer Grass

    • 1). Dip your medium-sized brush in the green paint. This shade of green should be the darker shade of green you want to use in the painting, being as green as grass that has been tended on a golf course, for example.

    • 2). Paint upward with your brush in short strokes. Cover the area where the grass will be on the canvas.

    • 3). Dip your thinner paintbrush in a lighter yellow/golden-green paint.

    • 4). Paint upward in slightly longer, more curving strokes, covering the area you just painted so that the darker green color recedes to the background, but can still be seen poking through the lighter green on top.

    • 5). Dip your paintbrush in the darker green, and then the lighter green. Mix the two colors.

    • 6). Paint upward in curving, loose strokes, covering the grassy area with the new color you mixed in Step 5.
