Samsung Mobile Phone Problems
- There are two different reasons that your Samsung phone may freeze up on you. The device may freeze or crash when you attempt to access the main menu. This is caused by a lack of memory on the Samsung. Free up some memory to avoid this issue in the future.
To free memory, you should set the memory card as the default storage location for the device. From the main screen in your phone, press the "Camera" button, then hit "Setup" and then the "Options" tab. When the menu opens up, tap "Storage," then "Memory Card" and then "OK" to save the new default location on the Samsung. If you do not want to change the default location, then you can simply move files from the phone memory to the memory card as you see fit. - The Samsung sometimes freezes or crashes unpredictably or at random, and the battery may need to be removed to restore functionality to the phone. This may indicate a software or memory problem with the phone. Remove the last item you installed on the handset. This is because the phone usually starts freezing after you install a new game or ringtone on the phone. You can always reinstall this new item if you determine that this was not causing the problem. If the phone starts to work better, use it as normal for a day and check often if the problem happens again.
If the problem begins again, you should reset the Samsung by pulling out the battery and reinserting it. This type of reset will usually fix slowness issues in a phone. However, be warned that pulling out the battery while the phone is on may delete stored text messages and reset other programs to their default functions. This is why you should perform this action last. - New pictures may save to the memory card even though the default save location is set to the phone memory. There's a specific reason why this may happen. If you have a memory card installed and turn on the phone the first time (or reset the phone to default settings), and you access the camera application, the issue will occur. This issue should happen only the first time you open up the camera program on the phone after initial start-up or default reset.
To avoid this issue in the future, open up the camera twice before you take a picture. The problem should not occur anymore. While in the camera application, you can see the save location at the top of the screen with either a phone or memory card icon. - Self-help content on a phone can provide you with a resolution to many problems. However, when that content itself causes a problem, you could be out of luck. For example, when you access help content after clicking "Menu," then "Help" and then "Troubleshooting,"' you may experience the following errors:
- "You do not have enough signal to use the internet or e-mail. Improve your signal strength by moving your phone to a different location."
- "You do not have a strong enough signal to send or receive messages. Improve your signal strength by moving your phone to a different location."
You will receive these messages only if you have your wireless connection off (or airplane mode turned ON). - To fix the problem and restore your connection (turn OFF airplane mode), click "Menu," then "Settings," then "Phone Settings," then "Airplane Mode," and then set the mode to "Off." Once you turn off the airplane mode, your Samsung phone will function as normal.
