Is Diet Coke Bad For Me? Why Do We Drink So Much of This Stuff?

So is Diet Coke bad for you? Or Diet Pepsi or Diet Dr Pepper or Diet (fill in the brand name here)? Well the answer is there has never been a case of death by diet soda recorded anywhere.
It really depends on what your definition of bad is.
For example, if you switched from regular cola to diet cola as a way to reduce calories, that's a good thing.
It's not a great thing as cola, with or without sugar, still has some nasty long term ill effects; but using it to reduce sugar intake is better than sticking with regular cola.
The biggest argument most people have against colas is the damage they are capable of doing to your teeth.
The carbonation or fizz, can leech calcium from your teeth and make them weaker.
In addition they can cause digestive problems.
Personally I try to never drink anything that can clean acid off a car battery terminal (absolute fact Coke is the fastest way to clean acid on a battery).
My biggest argument with soda is what it doesn't give you.
It doesn't make you feel full and it doesn't give you any nutritional value at all other than about 2% of your daily allowance for sodium and we really don't need another source of salt in our food.
Better to drink ice tea where at least you'll get some antioxidants that can both help your blood pressure and fight visceral fat.
Millions of cans a day are consumed in this country and it's a huge and extremely competitive industry.
You'd think we'd found the magic elixir.
Have you ever noticed that these soda companies are part of larger conglomerates whose other products are snacks? Have you ever noticed that when you're drinking something sweet, like say a soda, you have a desire to eat something sweet or salty.
Just a coincidence? So the answer to the question is diet coke bad for me is no.
However, you could do better.
