How Do I Change the Powder Type on a Dillon RB550 Reloader?
- 1). Remove all primers from the primer magazine and return them to their storage container. Remove any unloaded cartridges from the shellplate.
- 2). Place a clean container beneath the powder change station to catch any powder that falls from the powder measure tube. The collection container should be large enough to hold the amount of powder contained within the powder tube. The powder drops down from the powder magazine into a brass cartridge in this station.
- 3). Using your fingers, not the press handle, raise the powder measure fail-safe rod repeatedly to release powder into the collection container. Repeat this step until all powder has been discharged from the powder magazine. Gently tap the powder magazine when it appears empty to dislodge any powder. Return the powder to the proper container.
- 4). Remove the powder measure lid and fill the powder measure tube with smokeless powder. Replace the lid. Before beginning to reload, adjust the powder bar to ensure the automatic powder system loads the correct amount of powder.
