How to Stay Warm Going to Your Deer Stand & Staying There
- 1). Dress in three layers so that you can remove layers as necessary. Depending on the weather in your area, it's also important to wear gloves, a hat and two pairs of socks. Bring a backpack to store any extra clothing you have removed.
- 2). Keep your blood flowing to decrease heat loss. Wear loose clothing so that your blood can circulate. Move your body by standing, bending or flexing your joints.
- 3). Eat and drink to keep warm. Carry snacks with complex carbohydrates like trail mix to give you energy. Take a thermos of hot soup or hot chocolate to warm up the inside of your body.
- 4). Keep yourself dry. Hypothermia can occur when you are cold and wet. Don't wear a heavy jacket if you get hot walking to your stand. If you begin to sweat, remove some layers of clothing and store in your backpack so you will remain dry.
