How to Peel & Stick Ceramic Tile

    • 1). Wipe down the installation area with a damp sponge to remove dust, dirt and debris. The installation surface needs to be cleaned before priming.

    • 2). Apply primer to the installation area with a roller or a paint brush. Use interior primer suitable for peel and stick ceramic tile. The tile manufacturer may make a recommendation on what type of primer to use with the product.

    • 3). Measure the installation area and sketch it on a piece of graph paper.

    • 4). Determine the best placement for tiles on the installation area based on the pattern you wish to use. If you are placing a set of mural tiles on the wall, identify the exact location for the mural tiles on your sketch.

    • 5). Determine the midpoint of the installation area. Measure the length and width of each side and mark the center of each with a pencil.

    • 6). Pop a chalk line from each midpoint across the installation area to determine the exact middle of the installation area.

    • 7). Remove the backing from the tile and place it in one of the "L-shaped" areas created by the cross at the midpoint of the installation area. Place the tile exactly on the lines of the cross.

    • 8). Place tiles in the other three corners of the crossed lines. Continue placing tiles from the center outward until you've placed every tile on the installation area.

    • 9). Cut tiles for the end of the installation area with a scoring tool and snap them in half to get an exact fit.

Allow the tiles to set for at least 24 hours before washing or cleaning them.
