Great Tips On Adult Dog Training That Are Not Complicated

For many people, pets are just a great part of life.
A part of life that can be hard to train sometimes.
There are lots of tips on adult dog training available these days, and I would like to talk about a few of them.
While many pet owners have adult dogs that have never been trained before, many owners are realizing that having a well-trained pet in the house is much easier on them.
There are many ways that you could train your dog, depending on what you want to accomplish with him.
If you want him to do complex tricks, that will obviously take a lot of time, and you will want more detailed help.
If you simply want your dog to not go potty in the house, or become accustomed to a crate, that is very doable in a short amount of time.
Obedience training is a really great way to introduce your dog to being happy, non-anxious and behaved, to correct behavior problems in adult or younger dogs.
There are traditional methods, such as classical conditioning available for you if you are looking to correct some simple behavior problems like social anxiety.
When classical conditioning is used, the animal will be introduced to a situation that he does not like very much.
The reason for this, is that it will make him get accustomed to those situations.
Before long, the anxiety and fear of those situations can completely vanish for him.
One very popular tip for training your dog is to use kibble or some kind of treat to lure him into doing simple commands.
This is called a lure reward, and can be very effective for both puppies and adult dogs.
You can use a lure reward to teach your dog to sit very quickly by doing the following:
  • Tell the dog to sit, while using his name.
    Ex: "Brita, sit".
  • Then, take the treat and move it over his nose, behind him.
The need to look at the treat will cause him to look so far over his own head, that the result will be him sitting down.
  • Be careful not to raise the treat in the air, as the pooch may try to jump for it, and we don't want that.
  • When sitting is achieved, reward your dog with a treat and some affection if desired.
A great and simple way to introduce relaxation to an anxious dog, is by the use of a crate.
While many people, and dogs associate the crate with something negative, it does not have to be that way at all.
You can use a crate to make the K-9 feel safe inside of his crate home.
He will be relaxed and calm while in the crate, which is great for a trip to the vet, or a vacation.
There are a lot of techniques that you could use for training.
Some will be more difficult than others, but if you stick with it, you and your dog will both see the rewards.
