Stereotyping Associated With Good Looks Or Athletic Abilities
Having good looks and/or athletic abilities is something that many people aspire to, and if you talk to a beautiful woman or an athletic young man who is also quite intelligent, they often are upset inside over the way they are perceived.
Think about it for a second, someone looks at you and assumes that you are beautiful but also not that smart.
It's a stereotype that can be very difficult to overcome.
Well, it's true that good-looks do open doors.
Not everyone has that advantage, but if you have good looks then you should of course not knock it, use it, use everything you have, all your skills, and talents.
Having a pleasant displacement, positive attitude, and sexual allure is a good thing.
It makes others around you feel alive, brightens their day.
You know it's often interesting that those who are "good looking" get fast tracked into certain career paths, often negating their other talents, as people see only their pleasant looks.
Athletes often have this problem too.
They get fast-tracked into certain career paths and college classes due to their athletic abilities rather than their other skills and talents.
People assume that they are somehow stupid because of their looks or athletic abilities.
This may sound kind of funny, but I can totally relate with this issue on a very personal basis, as I watch how folks attempted to fast-tracked me and had to fight it.
I had/have patrician looks and was a hell of an athlete, but I loved to run my own business and was/am an intellectual type.
In school I wanted to take the hardest classes, and coaches and counselors tried to convince me otherwise.
If you have extremely good looks, there is one thing you should remember.
Those with very good genetics are often extremely symmetrical with facial features, humans attribute this to good looks in their mind.
Obviously, if the genetics are better, then they will also be smarter, athletic, better use of chemicals in their body, better metabolism and also better looks.
Still, often folks do not realize that stereotypes work both ways.
Many very good looking women have to deal with this problem, as folks think they are beautiful, but stupid.
And usually that is not the case, unless they too buy into that scenario and just use their good looks to "get by" and not excel with their passion in life.
As long as your good looks continue to open doors, you should use that advantage to propel yourself forward in the endeavors you choose (that you choose!).
