How to Insulate a Wood Frame Metal Building
- 1). Measure the distance from the floor to the top of the ceiling in the wood framing of the metal building.
- 2). Cut the insulation with the utility knife to the size you measured. Put on your gloves before handling the insulation as it can cause skin irritations. Cut the insulation from the paper side first, working your way through the insulation with each swipe of the knife.
- 3). Work from the bottom up, placing the insulation in between the framing. Staple the flap of the insulation to the wood frame with the staple gun. Staple every 6 inches, working your way up. Insulate between every wooden frame in the building.
- 4). Tape the seams between each piece of insulation with construction tape. The tape will generally go on top of the wood studs and on top of every staple you made. This will close off any holes and any gaps that could reduce the efficiency of the insulation.
- 5). Cover up the wall with drywall or a finishing material of your choice. You can leave the insulation as is but it will get damaged and is not a pretty sight. If you cover it with drywall it will increase the effect of the insulation in the metal building.
