DSC W150 vs. DSC

The DSC-TX9 is a little smaller and lighter, measuring 3.86 inches wide, 2.36 tall and 0.71 inches thick with its lens retracted. It weighs 0.33 lbs. The DSC-W570 is the smallest and lightest of the three cameras, measuring 3.58 inches wide, 2.05 inches tall and 0.75 inches thick with its lens retracted. It weighs 0.26 lbs before optional upgrades and accessories. All three cameras are powered by rechargeable, removable lithium-ion battery packs.
- The DSC-W150 features an 8.1-megapixel sensor that shoots photos up to 3,264 by 2,448 pixels in size. The DSC-TX9 has a 12.2-megapixel sensor that shoots photos up to 4,000 by 3,000 pixels in size. The most powerful sensor of the three cameras belongs to the DSC-W570. Its 16.2-megapixel sensor takes photos up to 4,608 by 3,456 pixels in size. The DSC-W150 comes equipped with an integrated lens with an equivalent focal range of 30 to 150 millimeters, 5x optical zoom and 2x digital zoom. The DSC-TX9 features a lens with an equivalent focal range of 20 to 100 millimeters, 4x optical zoom and 4x digital zoom. The DSC-W570 has a lens with an equivalent focal range of 28 to 140 millimeters, 5x optical zoom and 6.7x digital zoom.
- The DSC-W150 has nine white-balance presets, while the DSC-TX9 has eight and the DSC-W570 has seven. All three cameras have onboard optical image stabilization and built-in flash units. The DSC-W150’s flash has a range of 14 feet, compared to 12.5 feet for the DSC-TX9 and DSC-W570. The DSC-W150 has an aperture range of f3.3 to f5.2, versus f3.5 to f4.6 for the DSC-TX9 and f2.6 to F6.3 for the DSC-W570. All three cameras have maximum shutter speeds of one sixteen-hundredth of a second. None of the cameras can be set to aperture or shutter priority modes. The DSC-W150 and DSC-TX9 both have manual zooming capabilities, while the DSC-W570 doesn’t.
- The DSC-TX9 is the fastest of the three cameras in continuous drive mode, snapping 10 frames per second compared to two fps for the DSC-W150 and one fps for the DSC-W570. All three cameras have video-recording capabilities. The DSC-W150 shoots video at resolutions up to 640 by 480 pixels at 30 frames per second. The DSC-TX9 shoots at resolutions up to 1,920 by 1,080 at 50 frames per second. The DSC-W570 shoots video at resolutions up to 1,280 by 720 pixels at 30 frames per second. The DSC-W150 and DSC-W570 have identical 2.7-inch LCD screens that display 230,000 screen dots. The DSC-TX9 has a larger and higher quality LCD that measures 3.5 inches and displays 921,600 screen dots. The DSC-W150 is the only camera out of the three with a secondary optical-tunnel viewfinder.
