What Kind of Shoes Do You Wear With Achilles Tendonitis?

Soles

The soles of the shoes should be flexible and move with the sole of the foot; otherwise, the heel can slip and aggravate the Achilles tendon.

Shoe age

Your shoes should not be old or worn out. If the sole is worn out, the Achilles tendon will be overstretched and will not heal.

Heels

Shoes that place the heel higher than the ball of the foot are best. This will ensure that the tendon is not overstretched.

Cushioning

Shoes with the proper amount of cushioning are important when you have Achilles tendonitis. Your shoe should have enough cushioning that there is not a lot of impact when you run or walk, but not so much that your foot motion is impeded.

Motion Control

Motion control running shoes can help keep the foot in the proper position, speeding healing and avoiding re-injury.
