Amusement Parks Near Spring Lake, New Jersey
- Located just one town over in Jackson, New Jersey, Six Flag's Hurricane Harbor is the sister park to Six Flag's Great Adventure and Wild Safari. Nine water rides in the park offer something for everyone, from wave and kiddie pools to three more extreme slides, each with 20 mph, five story-high tracks. (see ref 4) Also 22 miles from Spring Lake but to the direct north, Keansburg Amusement Park is home to Runaway Rapids Waterpark, with 18 slides and even two spa pools for the parents. - A little closer to Spring Lake, just 15 miles south, the Funtown Pier is an amusement park located right on the coast. Families flock to the Funtown Pier for its 35 carnival rides, which include the baloon ferris wheel, roller coasters and plenty of smaller-scale rides for the little ones. (see ref 2) Also located on the boardwalk, Jenkinson's South Amusement Park is only 4 miles south of the city of Spring Lake. Part of the Jenkinson's Boardwalk, which includes an aquarium and beach, the theme park offers rides such as himalaya, bumper cars, two high-powered swing rides, gravitron and a tilt-a-whirl, among many others. - While Jenkinson's, Funtown Pier and Keansburg's Amusement Park provide plenty of thrills, Six Flag's Great Adventure and Wild Safari are more suited for adrenaline-seekers, as well as those families looking for more ride options. After racing down roller coasters such as the 50 mph, suspended-seat coaster known as Batman the Ride, families can head over to the safari part of the park, which is the largest, vehicle-driven safari in the U.S. (See ref 5: click rides and safari)
- As of 2011, of the four parks within driving distance of Spring Lake, Six Flag's Great Adventure and Wild Safari is the most expensive, with daily tickets starting at $59.99 for adults and and $34.99 for kids. (see ref 4: tickets). Six Flag's Hurricane Harbor is slightly cheaper, with adults charged $39.99 and kids $29.99. (see ref 5: tickets). At Jenkinson's Amusement Park, Funtown Pier and Keansburg Amusement Park, there is no admission, but each ride must be paid for with pre-paid ride tickets, which can be purchased in $25, $50 or $100 booklets.
