• Rickenbacker bass guitars are designed to produce a sound that can be heard with distinction. Rickenbacker basses also can function as a lead bass when the treble tones are adjusted, making it sound like a regular guitar in the high register of the bass.

• The ohm specifications concerning the pickups depend on the model of the Rickenbacker bass. The first models, made in 1960, have 6 to 7 ohm range. For example, the 4004 model has two 15k ohm humbuckers built into the bass pickups.
  
  

Considerations

• The Rickenbacker basses have several models (4001, 4003, 4003s5 and 4004). The ohm rate determines how rich the sound will be when playing the bass. Rickenbacker 5 string basses (the 4003s5 series) have special pickups with increases Ohm rates for the fifth string.
