How to Install a Violin Bow Frog

    • 1). Hold the un-installed frog and pull it gently toward the screw to protect the hair. Notice that although the frog is free of the stick, it is still attached to the hair. If you let it go, both the frog and hair will dangle from the tip of the bow. However, doing so could result in damage to the hair, so be careful not to lose your grip.

    • 2). Look for a slot on the underside of the stick of the bow. This is where the frog will be installed.

    • 3). Find the ridge on top of the frog and insert it firmly into the slot in the stick.

    • 4). Hold the frog in the slot while you place the screw back into position, twisting it to the right. Tighten the bow until the frog remains in the stick without additional support.
