How to Make Stamped Concrete
- 1). Choose a flat, even surface like a patio or driveway for your stamped concrete finish. Clean the concrete well with a cleanser that contains a degreasing agent and some water. Rinse the concrete with plain water and let it dry for two or three days.
- 2). Pour liquid concrete bonding agent into a plastic paint pan. Load up a paint roller fitted with a fine-nap roll with the bonding agent. Apply the bonding agent to the concrete in straight lines and wait three to four minutes.
- 3). Scoop up some prepared concrete with a metal trowel and trowel a 3/8-inch thick layer all over the now-tacky bonding agent. Make sure that the whole surface is level and well-covered. Smooth the concrete with the trowel.
- 4). Wait half an hour before stamping the concrete so that the design will stay. Hold your first concrete stamp over the concrete and adjust the placement. Lower the stamp steadily and evenly and push it lightly into the concrete.
- 5). Lift the stamp up from the surface of the concrete without sliding or tipping it. Finish stamping the whole concrete surface. Allow the finished concrete to cure three to five days, depending on the size of your surface.
