How to Build a Treehouse Roof

    • 1). Measure the length and width of the open top of your tree house. If the tree house has an angled top, measure each side individually and follow these instructions twice -- once for each side of the roof.

    • 2). Cut a corrugated plastic sheet to match the dimensions of the open top of your tree house, plus 1 or 2 inches on each side. This overlap will help protect the walls, windows and doorway. Wear a face mask and safety goggles during this step -- the sawdust from corrugated plastic can be pretty nasty.

    • 3). Set the plastic sheet on top of the tree house, overlapping it evenly on each side.

    • 4). Screw the corners of the corrugated plastic onto the top corners of the tree house using wood screws.

    • 5). Reinforce your roof mounting with a line of wood screws along the top of each wall. Space the screws about 6 inches apart, adjusting spacing if the wall structure is irregular.
