Caring For Elders - 7 Tips to Determine If Your Elder is Experiencing Hearing Loss

Unless your elder encounters a sudden medical issue that impacts their hearing, they will more than likely experience gradual hearing loss.
As this generally occurs over a long period of time, it can be difficult to determine there is a problem.
The seven tips below will help you determine if there really is an issue that may required getting them some assistance.
During the past several months, you may have heard your elder discuss one or more of these issues, but never thought a whole lot about it because they didn't seem to be major issues.
But, if they have an issue with gradual hearing loss, you will have likely witnessed / hear many, if not all of these symptoms.
Of course, some hearing loss - especially if sudden - can be related to a minor issue such as an obstruction or infection.
A quick trip to the doctor will help you determine this.
If your elder is suffering from the normal, gradual hearing loss, your doctor can set them up with a hearing aid.
Hearing aids have come a long way over the years and are no longer looked down upon by seniors.
Nowadays, they can be implanted deep into the ear, so no one even knows that there is one in use.
President Clinton was fitted with two back in 1997.
Unless you were in his family or close inner circle, you likely never knew! If you've witnessed, or your elder has complained about any of these 7 issues, it would be worthwhile to get them to their doctor for further discussion.

This is common because when most people hear only parts of a conversation, they tend to think they are being talked about - and in a negative way.

Constantly straining to hear - such as squinting their eyes or cupping their ear.
