How to Get Famous for Kids Singing
- 1). Enroll your child in singing lessons. Child singers must continue to develop their voices or other performers will become more skilled.
- 2). Enroll your child in dancing lessons. Singers who can dance are always more likely to be successful. Live stage shows, television shows and band producers need children who can dance and sing.
- 3). Talk to your child about rejection. A career in the entertainment business is built on a series of rejections. If your child suffers emotionally from every rejection, it will be very difficult for her to continue auditioning.
- 4). Consider home-schooling your child. A successful career in singing will mean significant time traveling for auditions and performances. Managing your child's career will be easier if you are also managing her education.
- 5). Enter talent contests. Find local talent competitions first. These will help your child become accustomed to the competition process. Travel to talent competitions in a nearby large city. Talent competitions in large cities pull in agents, managers and casting agents.
- 6). Coach your child on being comfortable on stage. Appearing uncomfortable or disingenuous will deter from her performance. Use positive reinforcement to help her understand what looks best on stage. Constant correction from you will only worsen her discomfort on stage.
- 7). Record a few songs. The songs do not need to be original, and you do not need to have expensive back up accompaniment. To a professional, your child's talent will stand out with a simple piano. Post the recordings on your personal web site, iTunes, You Tube, My Space and Facebook.
- 8). Buy a subscription to one of the many business listings of entertainment professionals. Find the people who list an interest in child singers and call them. Expect rejection. For those who are interested, send them a CD or a link to your child's recording on-line.
- 9). Be nice to everyone, including the parents of other performers. Teach your child to be nice to her competition. Performers are always replaceable. Having a reputation for being difficult will eventually keep your child from being cast.
