- 1). Restart your computer and press F8 repeatedly as it's booting up. The "Windows Advanced Options Menu" appears.
- 2). Select "Safe Mode with Networking" using the arrow keys on your keyboard and press "Enter." Windows loads in Safe Mode with Networking.
- 3). Download a free anti-malware program. Legitimate candidates include Microsoft Security Essentials, Avast! Free Antivirus 6 and Malwarebytes. Launch the anti-malware program on your computer.
- 4). Run a "Full System Scan" using your anti-malware program. Note that the process for doing this varies slightly depending on the program. In Microsoft Security Essentials, click the "Home" tab, check the box next to "Full" and click "Scan Now." In Avast! Free Antivirus 6, click "Scan Computer" in the left pane and click "Start" next to "Full System Scan." Your anti-malware program scans your entire computer and automatically removes MisleadApp and any misleading applications it detects.
- 5). Restart your computer normally and run a second "Full System Scan."
