Plot

Definition:

A plot is a scheme, or a series of events in a narrative work. The overall framework of a work may be obvious, or it may be more obtuse (hidden in the framework of the work). An author can shape plots to his/her designs by weaving in and out of time--through flashbacks and other devices--or by presenting the story from start-to-finish (with a more-or-less chronologically accurate time-line).

Also Known As:

Scheme, framework, scenario, progress, artifice, setup, design

Common Misspellings:

plote, plott
