How to Hook Up a DirecTV Box to Record & Watch TV
- 1). Plug the component video cables into the "Component Out" ports on the back of the DirecTV receiver. Connect the other ends to the "Component In" ports on the television.
- 2). Connect the RCA audio cables into the "Audio Out" ports on the back of the DirecTV receiver. Insert the other ends of the cables into the "Audio In" ports on the TV.
- 3). Power on the TV and the connected DirecTV receiver box. Select the "Input" option on the TV, then choose "Component Video." The DirecTV receiver box programming loads on the screen.
- 4). Press the "Guide" button on the DirecTV receiver. A list of all the programs available on the receiver loads onto the screen. Push the directional arrow buttons until you have selected the show you want to record. Press "Record" to mark the show for capture.
