How to Repair Your Sony CyberShot DSC W230
- 1). Slide open the battery compartment cover on the underside of the camera. Remove the lithium-ion battery and gently clean the metal contacts with a pencil eraser. Insert a replacement, or freshly charged, lithium-ion battery pack and close the cover.
- 2). Inspect the seam around the outermost lens turret and the camera body. If the seam appears uneven at any point, the lens will need to be reseated.
- 3). Place the camera on a table so the lens points upward. Apply firm downward pressure with your thumbs to the front lens turret until you hear a slight "click." This signals that the lens has been reseated properly.
- 4). Remove debris which may be preventing the lens from retracting into the camera by pointing the nozzle of a can of compressed air at the seam. Fire several short bursts to dislodge any particles within the seam.
- 5). Dry out a wet camera by placing it in a plastic bag filled halfway with dry white rice. Seal the bag and leave it undisturbed overnight.
- 6). Tighten loose screws on your camera's body. After heavy use, these screws may loosen and cause the camera to malfunction or become inoperative.
