How to Keep Bats Out of Your Buildings

    • 1). Inspect the perimeter of all doors and windows for any gaps and any windows with an opening large enough for a bat to fit through. Seal these gaps with caulking.

    • 2). Check all windows and doors to make sure that they close tightly. In addition, keep all windows and doors closed at all times.

    • 3). Inspect the walls of your home and attic for any possible gaps or holes that a bat may be able to fit through. Check loose-fitting siding, gaps between soffits and fascia, attic roof vents and uncapped chimneys. Caulk any of these openings or make the necessary repairs to prevent a bat from flying through.

    • 4). Check electrical and plumbing holes and add stainless steel wool or caulking around all open areas.

    • 5). Install a one-way bat door in your attic to allow bats to find their way out without allowing them entrance again. These can usually be found at online hardware stores.
