- 1). Check the LCD screen for any error messages.
- 2). Inspect the ink cartridges. Replace any empty cartridges.
- 3). Insert the recommended type of paper into the fax machine. Brother recommends using Brother paper for best results.
- 4). Inspect the paper to ensure it is loaded properly in the paper tray. Adjust the paper side guide correctly.
- 5). Check the paper to make sure there is not more than one type of paper loaded.
- 1). Inspect all phone line cord connections. Unplug all connections and plug them back in to ensure they are secure.
- 2). Set the fax machine to the correct sending or receiving mode for your setup.
- 3). Check the phone line that is connected to the fax machine for a dial tone. If there is no dial tone, contact your telephone service provider.
- 4). Contact the party that that is receiving the fax. Confirm that the recipient's fax machine has paper.
- 5). Change the resolution for "Fine" or "S. Fine" if the fax is of poor quality.
