How to Frost a Glass Shower

    Using Frosted Spray Paint

    • 1). Decide if you will use the paint on just the doors or on all glass surfaces. If you are just painting the doors, remove them from their tracks or hinges, and take them outside and place them on a tarp or drop cloth. If you are painting the entire shower, make sure the area is well-ventilated.

    • 2). Spray and clean the surfaces with a window cleaner. Wipe the glass dry with a rag or towel.

    • 3). Put on a pair of safety glasses and a dust mask or respirator.

    • 4). Spray the glass with a light coat of the frosted spray paint. Allow the paint to dry before deciding if the frost shade is thick enough for you. Spray the glass with another coat of frosted paint if you want the frost to be more opaque. Allow it to dry.

    • 5). Re-install the shower doors if you removed them.

    Using Frosted Window Film

    • 1). Measure all of the glass surfaces you wish to frost. Make sure the roll of window film you purchase is large enough to cover all of the shower's glass panels.

    • 2). Cut the window film to the proper sizes that you measured. Add 1/2 inch to 1 inch to all of your measurements. You will trim the excess film after installation. Use a pair of scissors or a razor knife and a straightedge to cut the film straight.

    • 3). Wash all of the glass surfaces with window cleaner.

    • 4). Fill a spray bottle with water and one or two drops of liquid dish soap.

    • 5). Wash your hands to avoid getting oil from your skin on the film.

    • 6). Spray all of the glass surfaces with soapy water.

    • 7). Peel the film away from its backing paper and apply it directly to the shower glass. Move the film into place while the glass is still wet, you will not be able to move it once it dries into place.

    • 8). Spray the film with the soapy water once it is in place. Use a squeegee or a credit card to remove any air bubbles from beneath the film. Start from the middle of the film and squeegee the air bubbles out to the sides of the film.

    • 9). Place all the remaining film into place and squeegee out any air bubbles. Allow it to dry. Trim any excess film away from the edges once the film has dried in place.
