How to Manually Program a Philips Universal Remote
- 1). Turn your television on manually and tune it to Channel 1.
- 2). Press and hold the "TV" button on your Philips universal remote for five seconds. The red LED light at the top of the remote will light up and stay lit, indicating that the remote is in "programming" mode.
- 3). Look up the four-digit code for your television in the back of your remote's user manual. If you do not have the user manual, you can find it online at the Philips website.
- 4). Enter the four-digit code into the remote with the numerical keypad. If the red LED turns off after you enter the code, then the code was mistyped and you should repeat steps 2, 3 and 4. If the LED remains active, continue programming the remote.
- 5). Aim the remote at your television and press and hold the power button until the television turns off. You may have to hold the power button down for up to a minute before the television turns off.
- 6). Turn on the television with the remote. Test the "channel" and "volume" keys by changing the channel or increasing and decreasing the volume. Press the "TV" key twice to save the settings on your remote and exit setup mode.
- 7). Repeat steps 1-6 with your other devices. Press the "DVD," "CBL" or "VCR" button instead of the "TV" button to program a different device.
