A back porch can look dull without any decorations or flowers. If you are looking for something specific for your back porch, visit garage sales or road-side sales for used items. - If you are looking to add some color and life to your back porch, purchase some flower baskets and hang them up. Flower baskets are filled with colorful flowers that stand straight up or hang down from the basket's sides. You can either hang the basket up by attaching a wall bracket to a nearby wall or by using a corkscrew in a porch ceiling or cover. Flower baskets range in price depending on the flowers in the basket, so opt for a couple of the cheaper ones to add more life and color to your back porch without breaking the bank.
- Create a small seating area on your back porch so you can entertain friends. Muskoka chairs and a small muskoka table is an ideal option for a smaller back porch. Since muskoka chairs can be rather pricey when purchased in the wooden form opt out and purchase the plastic muskoka chairs that look like the wooden chairs. The plastic chairs are easier to store away during the off-season, as they stack nicely on top of each other.
- If you are looking for a place to store gardening tools or other seasonal items, a storage bench is a practical option for a back porch. It can be build from scratch using plywood or lumber and common woodworking tools, such as a saw, hammer, nails and drill, as a cheaper alternative to purchasing one. To make the bench friendly, add some homemade pillows to the bench during the sunny days. You can store the pillows in the storage box on rainy days.
- If you want to add some decoration to your back porch, purchase a wall decoration. Outdoor wall decorations are usually made with iron or copper that can stand being wet during the rain and can survive through snow and frost. Visit garage sales or smaller stores near cottages, where locals can sell their handmade crafts. You can often find a good deal at these locations or with local craftsmen.
