What Are the Signs & Symptoms of Kidney Infection?

    Pain

    • When you experience symptoms of a kidney infection you can feel pain in many different areas. You may experience pain in the middle to lower section of your back, or you may have pain on either side of your body just under your armpit. It is also possible that you could experience groin pain. You may also feel sharp abdominal pains. These symptoms have no real pattern and can occur in any combination at any time. They may also come and go without warning.

    Urination Symptoms

    • Several symptoms associated with your urination habits may appear during a kidney infection. You may notice persistent and sometimes overwhelming urges to urinate. When you urinate you may experience a burning sensation or a sharp pain. You may also see blood or pus mixed with your urine.

    Flu-Like Symptoms

    • You may start to feel flu-like symptoms. You may begin to feel nauseous, and your nausea may occasionally lead to vomiting. You might begin to get shivers or chills like you would get with a fever, and your body may begin to ache all over. You may also experience a general feeling of being ill.

    Tenderness

    • You may notice that parts of your body are tender to the touch. The most common areas of tenderness during a kidney infection are the sides of the body just under the armpits and in the middle of the back. The slightest touch can cause severe discomfort in the tender areas.

    Appetite and Skin Rash

    • You may experience an unexplained loss of appetite. Your skin may turn red in some areas and be warm to the touch.
