The Grand Canyon State offers a wealth of educational opportunities for those interested in working in heating, air and refrigeration repair. Arizona is home to several accredited HVAC schools. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, demand for heating, air conditioning and refrigeration repair technicians is expected to increase by 28 percent between 2008 and 2018 and the average pay rate for professionals in the field, as of May 2008, is $19.08 per hour. - The Refrigeration School, located in Phoenix, Arizona is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSCT). The Refrigeration School is also licensed by the Arizona State Board for Private Post Secondary Education and specializes in fields relating to heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration. The school offers associate degree programs in occupational studies in mechanical maintenance engineering, as well as electro-mechanical technologies, which can be completed in as little as 14 to 20 months. Students are free to enroll in day and evening classes, or a combination of both, in order to work around additional home and work responsibilities. The school offers financial assistance to those who qualify. As of July 2010, tuition rates ranged from $15,273 to $24,005 depending upon course selection.

Arizona Automotive Institute is also fully accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC) to educate in the fields of air conditioning, heating and refrigeration. Arizona Automotive Institute offers flexible class scheduling, job placement assistance for graduates of the program and financial assistance for those who qualify. AAI's associate degree and diploma programs cover relevant topics relating to heating, air conditioning and refrigerator repair, such as refrigeration unit instruction, air condition installation, service and repair and electrical troubleshooting. The program also prepares students for the EPA certification exam. While tuition varies according to program selection, as of July 2010, tuition rates per program averaged $27,500.

aai.edu - Arizona Western College's Yuma campus, which is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission - North Central Association, offers an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Air Conditioning/Refrigeration (ACR) degree. Arizona Western College prepares its students to enter the field of heating, air conditioning and refrigerator repair through the development of technical literacy and hands-on lab work and training. Successful graduates of the program can take advantage of job placement assistance. The school offers financial aid to those who qualify. Most programs can be completed within 30 months for full time students. As of July 2010, tuition for Arizona Western College's HVAC associate degree program was $5,664 per semester.
