How to Set Up a Miller CP-302 to Weld Aluminum

    • 1). Open the canister on the back of the Spoolmatic welding gun and insert a spool of aluminum MIG wire onto the spindle, with the wire feeding under the roll.

    • 2). Flip open the top cover on the Spoolmatic gun and continue to feed the wire through the inlet guide and through the drive roll assembly until the wire protrudes out the tip of the welding gun.

    • 3). Clip off the first 1/4 inch of welding wire with wire cutters.

    • 4). Close the top cover and canister on the Spoolmatic gun.

    • 5). Plug the gas hose into the air regulator on the tank of inert shielding gas and tighten the hose onto the clasp to secure it in place.

    • 6). Screw the trigger control power cord onto the weld control box of the CP-302.

    • 7). Attach the positive anode of the weld cable to the power source outlet on the CP-302 using an adjustable wrench.

    • 8). Open the flow of gas from the inert gas tank and turn on power to the CP-302.

    • 9). Depress the trigger on the Spoolmatic gun to expel an inch of welding wire from the tip of the welding torch to ensure the wire is loaded properly.
