How to Prevent Water Bottles From Bouncing Out of Bottle Cages

    • 1). Push the water bottle cage in toward the mounting plate to bend it and reduce the distance between cage and plate. As a general rule, push the cage in to the plate by a half-inch to start. Push the full water bottle into the cage and check for a tight fit, and see if the plastic is being pinched by the cage.

    • 2). Wrap the middle of the water bottles with two to three full rounds of duct tape. This adds to the diameter of the bottle and provides grip against the water bottle cage.

    • 3). Push the duct-taped bottles into the cage to test the wraps. If necessary add another wrap. The purpose is to increase the bottle's diameter so it is a tighter fit in the cage.
