Care of a Bath Tub
- 1). Wash your metal bathtub parts with soap and water applied to a soft sponge or cloth.
- 2). Make a solution of one part vinegar and one part water, and use it to remove mineral deposits and soap buildup.
- 3). Apply a copper cleaner to a soft sponge or cloth and use it to clean copper metal surfaces.
- 4). Rinse metal with plain water when finished.
- 1). Clean your tub with a soft cloth and all-purpose cleanser. To remove tough stains, use an abrasive cleanser.
- 2). Rinse your tub with plain water to remove cleanser.
- 3). Add one part muriatic acid (available at hardware stores) to one part water and rub it on exposed rust stains to dissolve them. When rust is dissolved, pour baking soda on the area, wash it with soap and water and allow the area to dry. You may notice that the acid dissolved some of the porcelain. In this case, paint the affected area with metal primer, let it dry and then paint the entire bathtub with epoxy paint.
- 1). Wash your tub with mild soap and water or a mild, non-abrasive cleanser.
- 2). Scrub tough stains with a soft nylon scrub brush.
- 3). Rinse your tub with plain water to get rid of cleanser and debris.
- 4). Wax your tub after cleaning it thoroughly every four months. Only wax the sides of the tub, never the bottom, to avoid making it slick.
