If you've tried to quit smoking in the past and failed, have you ever thought about the real hurdles you had when trying to quit smoking? Everybody has something that works against him or her when they try to quit.
I, too, always went back to smoking after a few days until the time that I realized what was really holding me back.
Once I found my mental block, I was able to quit successfully.
Here are some of the most common mental hurdles you may face when you try to quit smoking: You can't imagine your life without cigarettes.
Especially if you smoked for a long time, it can be difficult to picture yourself as a non-smoker.
What will you do with your time? To get over this, try to imagine what it's like to not smoke.
Think about what you'll do to fill time instead of smoking.
You use cigarettes to relax.
When you feel stress throughout the day, you smoke a cigarette.
Without smoking, you don't know how to relax.
The truth is that smoking simply gives you an excuse to take time for yourself.
When you try to quit, make sure you also plan to take this time to yourself.
You fear failure.
If you've tried quitting and failed, you may feel that you'll never be able to quit.
This fear of failure may cause you to not even try.
You'll do it another time.
For some people, quitting smoking isn't all that hard.
So you end up going back to smoking, thinking that you'll just do it some other time.
But some other time never comes.
Once you get over these mental hurdles, you'll have a much easier time quitting smoking.
