How to Can Cinnamon Apples With No Sugar
- 1). Wash, core and peel your apples. Cut them as thinly as you like, but try to cut them into equal sizes. Place the apple slices in a bowl and add cinnamon to taste.
- 2). Put your apples into a mixture of ascorbic acid and citric acid that you can buy pre-made at most supermarkets. This mixture prevents discoloration of the apples. Let the apples sit in the mixture for 15 minutes.
- 3). Bring a pot of water to boil. When the water is boiling, remove the apples from the mixture, drain them and place them in the boiling water. Boil the apples for five minutes.
- 4). Pour the apples and the boiling water into either a quart-sized or pint-sized canning jar. Leave a half-inch space and remove all of the air bubbles using an air bubble spatula while the mixture is still hot. Put the lid on the jar, making sure to screw it on tightly.
- 5). Bring another pot of water to boil. Once the water is boiling, place the jars into the water and allow them to remain there for 20 minutes. Then remove the jars from the water and allow them to cool. Store the jars in a cool place such as a pantry.
