Rice Diet Phase One

    Phase One Objective

    • Phase One is the initial step of the Rice Diet and is considered the detox stage as the body adjusts to the new dietary intake. Phase One consists of consuming whole grains and fruits. Phase One is designed to only last a week so that dieters can move on to Phase Two in order to continue to lose weight and/or maintain a current lower weight. The strictly reduced sodium content that dieters experience for the first time during Phase One of the Rice Diet dramatically decreases food cravings and overall appetite.

    Phase One Diet Plan

    • Phase One is broken down into a seven-day guideline. On the first day, the diet is limited to only 800 calories and 50 mg of sodium. Those 800 calories should be distributed among two starches and two fruits at breakfast, lunch and dinner. For the remaining six days, the calorie intake increases to 1,000 plus 300 mg of sodium. On those six days, one starch, one fruit and one nonfat dairy should be consumed at breakfast. At lunch and dinner, three starches, three vegetables and one fruit should be consumed.
