Upcoming Foodie Event: Don"t Miss A Taste of Georgetown



At a Taste of Georgetown, approximately 35 of Washington, DC’s most distinguished restaurants serve sample portions of their signature dishes. The food festival includes live jazz, craft beer and wine and a variety of entertainment for all ages. The region's hottest chefs will face off, testing their culinary skill during the Georgetown Chef Showdown, judged by DC's top food experts and media. The judges will taste all 70+ dishes and judge them based on categories such as "Best use of Seasonal Ingredients", "Best Overall Dish" and "Best Way to Satiate a Sweet Tooth".

Proceeds from a Taste of Georgetown will benefit the homeless outreach providing psychiatrist care, shelter and meals through the Georgetown Ministry Center.

Taste of Georgetown Highlights

Getting to Georgetown


Avoid parking and traffic by taking the DC Circulator Bus using the Georgetown/Union Station or new Rosslyn/Georgetown/Dupont Circle lines. There will be a satellite Capital Bikeshare bike corral at the 30th & K location to accommodate extra bikes during the food festival. If you choose to drive, there are several parking lots in Georgetown.

Admission


Each tasting is $5 or purchase five tastings for $20 (in advance). Craft Beer and Wine Garden tickets are $10 for three (in advance only), and $4 for one tasting (in advance or onsite).

Craft Beer & Wine Pavilion


The pavilion will offer several unique brews such as Brooklyn Brewery's Summer Ale, Leinenkugel's Summer, New Belgium Brewing's Fat Tire and Rolle Bolle and Starr Hill's the Love. Not to ignore wine enthusiasts, the pavilion will offer several wines for guests to enjoy while relaxing at one of the pavilion's café tables. Beverages tickets are $10 for 3, and $4 for 1 tasting.

Georgetown Chefs Showdown


Three of Georgetown’s chefs will face off at The Georgetown Chefs Showdown from 2:20–3 p.m. Participating chefs are Chef Girard Pangaud of Malmaison, Chef Kristy Cleaveland of Degrees at The Ritz Carlton, and Chef Mel Kurtz of Paolo's will lead teams of talented home cooks in an Iron Chef-style competition, each creating a unique dish using a “secret ingredient” announced at the beginning of the contest.

Giant Cakecup Eating Competition


Local coffee shop and bakery Baked & Wired will hold a Giant ‘Cakecup’-Eating Competition starting at 2 p.m. Five participants will face off to consume as much of a giant ‘cakecup’ as possible in a 3 minute period. The ‘cakecups’ will measure approximately 6 1/4" wide, 5" tall, and weigh in at 3 lb. 13oz. Flavors will include Strawberry (their #1 seller), Chocolate Satin, Pretty Bitchin’, Red Velvet, and Unicorns & Rainbows.
