How to Unlock a T Mobile Sidekick Phone to Work With AT&T

    Current T-Mobile Customers

    • 1). Check that you meet T-Mobile's SIM unlock requirements; postpaid customers must be active for at least 40 days while prepaid customers must be active for 60 days or more and have at least $10 on their accounts.

    • 2). Contact T-Mobile customer service from a line other than your cell phone. Tell the customer service representative that you want to use your Sidekick with another wireless network. Ask the representative to file a SIM subsidy unlock request on your behalf.

    • 3). Press *#06# from the main screen to see your phone's serial number. Provide this information to the representative and give a valid email address where he can send the code.

    • 4). Wait for the email to arrive and then place an AT&T SIM card into the Sidekick. Power up the device and wait for an on-screen message to appear that prompts the entry of the unlock code. Enter the unlock code exactly as shown in the email.

    Non T-Mobile Customers

    • 1). Select a third-party unlock service -- which are widely available on the Web -- to obtain an unlock code for your Sidekick. Note that while these private companies will be able to obtain the necessary code, they normally charge a fee for doing so.

    • 2). Press *#06# from the main screen of your Sidekick to see the device's serial number. Provide this number on the unlock code request form and list a valid email address to which the code can be sent.

    • 3). Wait for the email to arrive and then place an AT&T SIM card into the Sidekick. Power up the device and wait for an on-screen message to appear that prompts the entry of the unlock code. Enter the unlock code exactly as shown in the email.
