- 1). Lay two rows of tiles using spacers to align the tiles. In a room that is 10-by-10 feet or larger, remove the spacers at the quadrants after the last tile in the two rows is laid. In smaller rooms, such as a bathroom, the spacers can be removed after all the tiles are down.
- 2). Grab the spacer with needle-nose pliers and pull up to remove. Remove difficult spacers by grabbing a different end until the stuck spacer is removed.
- 3). Remove debris between the tiles with a vacuum before applying the grout.
