Cabinet Front Styles

    Flat Front

    • Flat front cabinets will give your kitchen a very simple look. With clean lines and few molding or decorative frills, these stylish cabinet fronts fit in with many decors. They are especially suited for country-looking kitchens.

Flat front cabinet doors are usually particleboard or veneer, which many people do not like. You can find flat front cabinet styles that are solid wood, but they do come with a hefty price tag. Quaker, Mission and Shaker are some of the flat front cabinet styles.

    Raised Front

    • Raised panel cabinet fronts include Queen Anne, Colonial or Continental styles. These more traditional style cabinet fronts can have an arch or curved look. With their decorative look, raised cabinet fronts are usually a step up from the flat styles. You can usually find raised front cabinet doors at a fairly reasonable price, however, the prices can vary quite a bit depending on the type of wood you want.

    Mitered Front

    • Give your kitchen an added dimension with mitered cabinet door fronts. Mitered cabinet fronts use molding for decoration on top of a flat or raised front door. Four molding pieces join together with 90-degree angles at the corners, hence the name mitered front.

This is not a difficult cabinet front to make if you own a miter saw. The miters on these cabinets sometimes have a tendency to come apart if they do not properly fit. Some people think they look like picture frames.
