How to Build a Water Puddle for Animals
- 1). Measure or take into account the width and length of the animal you expect to use the puddle.
- 2). Dig a hole 3 to 5 inches deep, and twice the width and length of the animal.
- 3). Lay the plastic liner into the space.
- 4). Cut around the edge of the plastic liner so it fits perfectly in the hole.
- 5). Cover the liner with an inch of fine gravel so it won't get moved by the animal. Place a couple of large rocks around the sides to further secure the liner.
- 6). Fill the puddle with water from a hose, or let it fill naturally with rain.
