Side Effects of Tri-Luma
- Some minor side effects from using Tri-Luma include tingling or numbness of the skin, acne, itchiness, stinging, dryness, moderate burning, irritation or a sensation of warmth where the medication is applied; it also might cause mild sunlight sensitivity. These side effects are considered minor, as they tend to subside quickly as the skin adjusts to the medication. However, if the side effects linger or intensify, medical attention may be necessary.
- Use of Tri-Luma can also lead to some serious side effects. In cases of serious side effects, seek emergency medical assistance. These potentially harmful side effects include abnormal weight gain (particularly facially); inflammation of the hair follicles; increased hair growth; slow darkening of the skin (black/blue tones); inflammation in the mouth area; loss of skin color; softening or thinning of the skin; weakness of the muscles; extreme, lingering burning sensations; and crusting, oozing, blistering irritation and swelling of the skin.
- Allergic reactions are also considered to be serious side effects of Tri-Luma. In situations of allergic reaction, seek medical help as soon as possible. Some signs of allergic reaction to Tri-Luma are problems with breathing; chest tightness; swelling of the tongue, lips, mouth and face; breaking out into hives; itchiness; and skin rash.
- It is important to exercise caution when considering Tri-Luma use. Therefore, individuals must notify their doctor of all medical conditions (past and present) before being prescribed the medication, particularly skin infections, scrapes, cuts, lowered blood flow, eczema, unusually high white blood cell count, asthma, sunburn, chickenpox, measles, shingles and tuberculosis. It is also important to let your doctor know about any allergies you might have, as well as any other medicines or herbal or dietary supplements you might be taking.
- Drug interactions can occur when more than one medicine or dietary supplement is taken at the same time. Drug interactions can lead to unpleasant side effects and can either reduce or increase the effectiveness of one or all of the medicines/supplements involved. Some medicines that can lead to possible drug interactions with Tri-Luma are those that raise sunburn risk (such as hydrochlorothiazide and tetracycline) and corticosteroids.
