Sirius Radio Car Installation Tips
- The Sirius radio dock-and-play tuner is packaged with a docking station that mounts to your car's dashboard or windshield. Select a location for the docking station that is easy to reach while driving but does not, in any way, impair your ability to see the road. The Sirius radio tuner will need to be connected to your current radio through a wire, so choosing a location near your current radio will keep the wire out of your way while you are driving. Directly above your current radio or at the bottom of your windshield are two possible locations.
Make sure your chosen location is completely dry and warmer than 65 degrees F to be sure that the dock will stick correctly. If you have a portable hair dryer, you can use it to eliminate any moisture and increase the temperature. Peel off the plastic tab on the docking station to expose a sticky surface. Press this surface onto the location you have chosen. Once the docking station is in place, clip the Sirius radio tuner into it. Plug the power cord into the tuner and your DC power socket (the socket normally used for a car lighter). If you have an auxiliary audio input on your current radio, use a 1/8-inch cord to attach the Sirius tuner to your radio. If you do not have one, plug an FM adapter into the Sirius radio to have the Sirius rebroadcast to your FM radio. - Like with the docking station, the top of your car must be completely dry and more than 65 degrees F. You can use a portable hair dryer to achieve this. The Sirius antenna uses a rubber connector with a sticky bottom, which you can press onto the top of your car to get it to stick in place. After you attach it, do not tamper with it for three days to allow it to dry.
Run the antenna's cable to the edge of the rear window. Slide the antenna between the window and your car's frame, running it all the way into the trunk of your car. From the trunk of your car, you can run the cable to the Sirius radio. To hide the cable, you can place it behind the trim of your car. Each car has different trimming, so look for sections that work well in your car. A potential place is directly above or below your doors.
